VOICES is our newest initiative which we are launching in partnership with the Teen Advisory Board at the Princeton Public Library and the local social justice organization, Not in Our Town. VOICES will be a conversation series for teens who have a desire to voice their perspectives on current events in society. This initiative was created in order for teens with an interest in current events and social justice to have a forum to foster their activism. VOICES will allow teens to come together to further their activism and really attempt through conversation and making powerful connections to initiate a change within our community. This conversation series was created in accordance with our 2015 mission, which will be announced shortly and modeled after the Not In Our Town's Continuing Conversation Series on Race.
VOICES will be held in the second-floor Conference Room at the Princeton Public Library. Snacks will be provided and ALL teens are welcome. The first meeting will be on Saturday, January 17th, 2015 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. The topic will be Racial Profiling - with a focus on Ferguson and other recent current events such as the cases of Eric Garner and Tamir Rice. The conversation will be moderated by two TAB/redefy members and certain news articles, cartoons, and etc. will be provided to further conversation.
Future dates will be Saturday, April 18th, 2015 from 3:00-4:00 pm and Saturday, May 16th, 2015 from 3:00-4:00 pm. (topics to be decided)
I encourage ALL teens to come out and voice their opinion and look forward to the amazing conversations I know will be had in this group!
