Unwanted

“This one time, choose to turn within and nurture yourself.”

If self-image is how we reflect on ourselves,

then why do we let others make the judgments?

We want to learn to love ourselves,

Break free from what we’ve become:

so indulged in beauty standards

when the real beauty lies within.

We are all lost in an illusion,

surrounded by echoes that criticize,

If only we could open our eyes,

then we could see the real image

staring at us—mirror

The jeans that fit you like a glove before

but don’t anymore? They have shrunk.

Change clothes but not your mindset.

This one time, choose to turn within

and nurture yourself.

Don’t wait for others to tell you what you deserve.

You can acknowledge you’re exquisite,

You can acknowledge that you’re wanted.
