Near Stories in a History Book

Why burden the next generations with the problems that we have started?

In 200 years,

The living now will be dead,

Near stories in a history book,

Most of us, forgotten, mere corpses in tombstones that lay,

But, global warming stands in our way;

Humans could be wearing masks, and not because of the pandemic,

Humans could have the lakes and rivers overflow our doorways,

Humans could be desperately fighting for water,

Humans could face temperatures higher than the world has ever seen before.

Our world will not be the same,

It already threatens nations everyday, who are pressured to pay the costly price,

Changing our world for the worst,

And, soon enough, it will be irreversible,

Forcing us to deal with the new reality that we have now created,

Now, our earth still has a good 4 billion years to inhabit our species,

Why limit the lives that are to be brought upon it?

Why burden the next generations with the problems that we have started?
