A Staff Writer would be expected to contribute 1 article per month. A Staff Writer will work with our Director of Journalism and Editorial Managers to select or be assigned topics that are interesting to them and will be expected to write 1 article/month (and meet their deadlines on time). If you consistently demonstrate your ability to fulfill the above responsibilities with professionalism, purpose, and passion, you may hold this position until you graduate high school, and once a candidate is selected for this role, they will be expected to begin immediately.
Redefy is seeking Staff Writers to write for us—to use journalism as a medium to speak truth to power, to write commentary on current events, to share authentic stories of grappling with identity/discrimination/human experience, to set the record straight, to uplift voices that need to be heard, and to educate/inform as many people as possible on the importance of equality/justice.
We are not looking for the best writers in the world or the most accomplished activists—we are looking for people who want to help tell stories. We write about personal experience, political/cultural phenomena, movements/injustices, history, the future, and really everything—and we want people who want to be a part of that to hopefully inspire some positivity in this world. We want people who are committed to creating quality content for us on a regular basis and who want to be part of a growing/influential platform.
As with all the positions that Redefy offers, this is a volunteer position; however, as a non-profit, we are able to award community service hours for each hour worked on Redefy.
Be a part of a fierce force of young people ready to agitate for change by starting a Chapter, creating resources, writing for our publication or representing Redefy on your campus.
