As an integral leader on the executive team, the position of Director of Social Media is rigorous and time-intensive. The Director is in charge of generating, scheduling, captioning, and posting relevant content across Redefy's Instagram (story + feed), Twitter, and Facebook alongside the Assistant Director of Social Media, The Director of Research, and the Directors of Content Creation. Whereas the Directors of Content Creation will focus on creating researched, actionable guides (or "resources") for youth to get involved with social issues, the Director of Social media will create posts meant to educate our following about pertinent social issues, highlight young people making change, coordinate any social media campaigns with other Redefy leaders, use our platform to celebrate marginalized voices/holidays/commemorations, publicize Redefy's articles on our accounts, etc. The Director of Social Media should be able to commit 3-4 hours each week to this work. We urge you to consider the time, effort, passion, and knowledge that you might dedicate to the position before applying.
Redefy is an international by-youth, for-youth non-profit that seeks to empower schools and communities with the resources to become more inclusive and equitable. We accomplish this 4 ways: journalism, resource creation, chapters, and campaigns. Redefy's journalism empowers a diverse cohort of writers and editors to comment or report on current events, social justice issues, and problems they have witnessed or encountered as members of marginalized groups. Our social media team creates resources for young people looking to learn about the issues and get involved in creating change for our social medias and website. Redefy mobilizes our international web of school, community, statewide, or national chapters to create local movements for social equity. Finally, as a full team, we launch large-scale campaigns focused on solving singular social justice issues.
Social media is becoming more important every day as a method of spreading our mission, building community, sharing actionable steps and resources, and unifying members of our generation. Therefore, it is fundamental that Redefy has a Director of Social Media that is committed, hard working, innovative, and eager to make a difference. All position descriptions including role details and time commitment can be found at www.redefy.com/join-us.
Application due July 13th, 2021.
